I just came across this dope interview with Questlove from The Roots where he describes how and when he first saw Dilla make a beat from scratch which eventually turned into the Blackstar track “Little Brother”. Dude was pure genius…check it out here!

I just found out about this dude from his mixtape “The Audacity of Hope” that I downloaded off of his myspace site. This joint is pretty tight. Ima keep an eye out for Hope in the 09.

No doubt about it, Royce has been going hard since the Bad Meets Evil days with Slim Shady. I’ve been a fan since day one but Royce has been hit with the lukewarm career virus that hits a lot of dope artists. To top that off he had a DUI jail sentence last year that hampered his exposure but as soon as he got out he got the ball rolling with DJ Premier again. This is the first single off his new album Street Hop (March 09). What I love about this song is it captures the emotional steps Royce took before, during and after his bid in jail..Premo laced him with what I think is his finest beat in a very long time..The climax and drop of the song is crazy sick..No doubt this track stays in my Ipod rotation…Peep It!

I peeped this movie last week and wanted to watch it again immediately. Its that good for real. Adrian Brody plays Leonard Chess, the music recording entrepreneur who brought the likes of Muddy Waters (Jeffrey Wright), Chuck Berry (Mos Def) & Etta James (Beyonce) to music stardom though Southside Chicago’s own Chess Records. But more importantly I believe music fans should watch this movie because it trails how far American music has evolved from Blues to Rock & Roll to Rhythm & Blues to Soul and further on to Hip Hop…The only thing I regret is I wish it was just a little bit longer so they can go into more detail into each of the characters but Beyonce looked great, Mos Def was phenomenal as usual and Cedric The Entertainer who played songwriter Willie Dixon was hella funny. Go peep it!

If yall don’t know about Charles Hamilton then you need to step up your internet game. Dude is killin the net and mixtapes scene with his original flavor…Check out his blog as well…Definitely a dude you should keep up with in the 09! Merry Christmas yall!

A few days of being trapped at home isn’t really all that bad in my opinion. If anything, it gives me a reason to post up at the Tully’s down the street, listen to music, surf the net and write raps all day.

So manager/co-trainer/waste of space Leonard Ellerbe is making his rounds in an effort to announce and promote the possible return of his fighter Floyd Mayweather jr in 09′.  Say’s Ellerbe “Floyd is willing to evalluate any and all Big Fights” presented to the Mayweather team.  According to Ellerbe, Mayweather wants to move staight in to a mega-fight deal with the response to a tune-up fight being an emphatic “Hell-no”.Obviously the Mayweather jr camp is positioning themselves for the winner of the Pacquiao vs Hatton fight that is close to happening and will likely take place on May 2nd.   It sounds to me like Floyd is expecting Pac-Man to win that one as Floyd has already begun his pre-fight promotional trash talking by stateing  “(Pacquiao) is a good fighter but, I’ll beat his ass!”

To be fair, here’s a vid from the guythat Mayweather jr. bit his style from, probably after uncle Roger got beatup by him.  Pernell Whitaker!

Just started a new job so I haven’t been able to post anything for a minute.

Figured I start back up with a Banger from the hommie Reh Dogg.  “Why must I Cry” is the featured cut from his sophmore release entitled “DJ Teti” available on cdbaby.  The first question u may find yourself asking is “is this guy serious”.  The answer is yes, he’s dead serious!
